Herman Risden Barnard, age 91, passed peacefully in his home on August 10, 2026. Born March 12, 1935, to Roberta (nee Fletcher) and R. C. Barnard, Herman was the second oldest of five boys. Herman married the love of his life, Jo Ann Phillips, on September 9, 1955 and they enjoyed over 70 years of marriage together. While being a doting husband and father, Herman also found time to drive a semi-truck, work as a machinist, and run his own business. However, his true work was as a deacon and teacher at Orchard Hills Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, where he joined as a member in 1963. Proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Woodrow, Billy, and Bruce, Herman is survived by a large loving family, including wife, Jo Ann; Brother, Curtis; Children, Cherrilyn (Eddie), Michael, Terry (Wendy) and Levi (Tashina); 8 Grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
