Douglas Allen King died at his home in Dallas TX on June 10, 2026 from medical complications. Doug lived a life of Family, Friends and Fun. Doug will be missed by many.

Doug was born November 15, 1954 in Grand Rapids, MI to Robert Dudley and Lucille (DeChant) King, who have preceded him in death. On September 27, 2008 Doug married Cindy Wright. Cindy passed away February 24, 2017.

Doug worked and put himself through college earning a degree in Airline Mechanics. He worked for the airlines for years and made friends. He then switched to being a chef in several restaurants. Again making friends of the staff and customers. He created special dishes that customers specifically requested. He also worked for the local radio station doing the news and playing songs the listeners requested. Doug was so good with people that the restaurant corporation made him a restaurant Manager. While doing that he again put himself through college earning a degree in accounting. He worked accounting and made more friends until retirement.

Doug made friends at the local church and fell in love with his wife. Doug also travelled and managed to make friends while visiting friends and family. Doug was appointed Honorary Pirate on the Maine schooner that he sailed with for a week of vacation.

Doug was also friends and support to many indoor and outdoor cats. Doug will be missed by many cats, Friends, and Family.

Survivors include three brothers, James (Kathy) King of Chattanooga, TN, Russ King of Newaygo and Steve (Jane) King of Holland, MI, one sister, Jan (Stan) Powers of Chelmsford, MA. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
