Gigu Mathew Zachariah, born on September 26th, 1974, to the late K.M. Zachariah and Lizy Zachariah at Kerala, India, passed away aged 50 while working at his home office on April 30th, 2025, in Garland, TX.
During Gigu’s early years, he grew up as an only child with his mother, as his father passed away when Gigu was only four years old. Despite growing up without a father figure and no other siblings, Gigu was very ambitious, driven by the thirst to succeed, and never lost hope.
Following his graduation in Kerala, India, his ambitions led him to move to Europe, specifically, Latvia, where he pursued a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science at Riga Technical University and served as Network Administrator and Webmaster during his time there. After his undergraduate education, he returned to India to work as a Technical Network Engineer at HCL.
After a strong passion for Computer Networking, he moved back to Europe, specifically Sweden, and attended KTH Royal Institute of Technology. There, he studied for a Master’s in Internetworking Technology and also pursued a Master’s Thesis in the Open Access Network (OAN). During his Master’s, he started several companies, which gave him a strong desire for entrepreneurship, so he did further education at Stanford University in Global Entrepreneur Leadership and was involved in several activities, such as Debate.
On August 17th, 2004, Gigu married Reena in Kottayam, India. Gigu’s professional background got the attention of 3M, where he was offered a work-based visa in the United States. After accepting his offer, he settled in New Jersey, where God blessed them with two children named Joshua and Joel. Gigu had many roles at 3M–firstly as a Software Engineer, Senior Production Systems Engineer, Senior Network and Security Engineer, then Team Lead, Senior Cloud Architect, and finally moved to Cybersecurity to lead Cloud and Network Security Engineering and Operations. From 2005 until his passing, he worked faithfully at 3M and 3M Healthcare (Now Solventum), where all his colleagues loved him.
He moved with his family to Texas in 2013, where he attended the New Testament Church in Dallas. He was known for his selfless commitment to the church and fulfilled his duties as an usher.
Gigu was known for his selflessness, soft spokenness, intelligence, and humility, making him beloved by all who knew him. He was very caring and always made sure everyone was happy. Gigu was a family man and would take his family everywhere he went.
Despite his young and unexpected passing, he is now in a better place. He will be missed dearly and always be remembered as a great father, husband, son, mentor, colleague, friend, and spiritual brother. He is survived by his beloved wife Reena, his two sons Joshua and Joel, and his mother Lizy.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at the New Testament Church, 2545 John West Road, Dallas, TX 75228.
Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at New Testament Church, 2545 John West Road, Dallas, TX 75228.
Burial and Final Resting Place will follow the Funeral Service and be held at New Hope Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 500 US-80, Sunnyvale, TX 75182.

We are devastated by the loss of Gigu. I looked up to him professionally as an excellent engineer, but more so personally as great man. I've never had such a kind, understanding and patient coworker. He was always willing to help and to listen. I never heard him say anything negative about anyone and he was always optimistic. He was and is without guile. I'll especially miss his laugh that always brightened my day. Gigu will be greatly missed. .I pray that you can find peace and comfort as you move forward through this tragedy.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Gigu hired me at Solventum last year. I was so lucky to get to work with him every day for over a year. He became such a huge part of my life, and I sort of viewed him as a mentor. I was in constant contact with him throughout the day, and I just keep waiting for him to ping me in the morning with a "gm Cindy." He will always be in my heart, and I can only hope in my life that I am able spread as much joy and laughter as Gigu did. I miss him dearly. His kindness, joy, laughter, and his bright light always shining, Gigu was one of a kind, just a gem of a person. He made a massive impact on me, and I never got to tell him thank you. Zachariah Family, I'm so deeply sorry you are going through this. He will never leave our hearts, though. That brings some level of comfort. Thank you, Gigu - for everything <3 I'll never forget you, or the lessons you taught me or the laughs you brought all of us. You were just the best, and I'm so sad you are gone. <3 <3 <3 Cindy

Twenty-one years ago, Gigu came into my life when he arrived in the United States and began working at Info-X. From the very beginning, I was drawn to him. He was humble, respectful, soft-spoken, and incredibly dedicated. He never asked for anything—always content with what he had, never speaking hi of anyone, always carrying himself with quiet strength and grace. Very quickly, I took him into my heart. He became like a son to me. Over the years, our bond only grew stronger. My admiration for the man he was—his unwavering commitment to his family, his integrity, and his tireless work ethic—only deepened with time. I had the joy and privilege of visiting his beautiful home in Texas. I was so proud of everything he had built. He welcomed me so warmly, and we shared precious moments—laughing, talking, just enjoying each other’s presence. It’s a memory I will always treasure. My heart is broken that he’s no longer with us. The loss is immense. I will miss him dearly. Gigu, I love you so much. Please watch over your family. Help guide them with that same quiet strength and steady heart that defined you. Rest in peace, my son.
