On Monday morning, March 17, 2025, Dr. Donald Weldon Brooks. D.C., D.N.B.H.E. departed this
earth and entered the gates of heaven. Donald fought an extremely hard and intentional battle
against cancer for the past year. He remained acutely alert until his last breath. Donald was born in
McKinney, TX on August 17, 1945, the first child and only son of Silas Weldon Brooks and Jewell
Janice (Branch) Brooks.
Donald was in the 1963 graduating class at Garland High School in Garland, TX. From there he went
on to the University of North Texas where he graduated in 1966, getting married the same year to
Diana E. Jaramillo of Carrollton, TX. He worked at Collins Radio before joining the United States
Army reporting to Fort Bliss, TX. After returning from his time in the Army, first welcoming his son,
Donald Glenn Brooks in January 1967, Donald attended cosmetology school in Dallas, TX. For many
years he had a successful career as a hairstylist and cosmetology instructor. This career allowed him
to pursue his true calling and passion in the medical field. After much consideration and research, he
focused on not just treating the sick but also helping people live a healthier, more natural lifestyle
through chiropractic, specializing in homeopathic medicine. Following graduation from Texas
Chiropractic College in Pasadena, TX on May 6, 1983, Dr. Brooks returned to his hometown of
Garland, TX, opening his practice, Forest Lane Chiropractic that same year where he served the
community for 36 years until retiring in December 2019. As a Doctor of Chiropractic and a
Homeopathic Diplomate, his servant's heart shined. With a thriving practice for many years and a
generous heart, oftentimes he would treat those who needed his help pro-bono as he loved sharing
his incredible knowledge by helping anyone who needed and wanted it.
Donald enjoyed attending services at Christ Church in Rockwall, TX. He will be remembered as a
peaceful and generous man with a servant’s heart who deeply loved God, his family, and his friends.
His love for music began at an early age in school when he joined the band playing coronet
throughout high school, going on to form his band, The Gypsies, writing, singing, recording songs,
and owning his record label for a time. He loved watching Dallas Cowboys football and the news to
keep up with current events. Donald was a man of many talents. As a young man, he enjoyed
hunting and fishing with his dad and later his son. He had a great love for boating, guns, relaxing, and
enjoying life with family, friends and his dog – his best buddy Carmie. He will be missed
tremendously by all who knew him.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He leaves behind his wife of over 40 years, Jane Brooks; of Rowlett, TX; son, Donald G. Brooks and
wife Lisa of Savannah, TX; daughter, Meghan (Brooks) Mazur and husband, Brian of Philadelphia,
PA; sisters, Janice (Brooks) Smith of Frisco, TX and Shirley (Brooks) Gahagan and husband Curtis
of Wylie, TX; Grandsons: Joseph Brooks, Cooper Brooks, James Mazur, Paul Mazur and Zachary

My doctor Rowlett , Texas
Dr. Brooks was a great chiropractic and homeopathic doctor with a calm bedside manner who would listen and provide practical treatment for any ailment. I would always trust his advice. I was a bit bummed when he retired but certainly understood he wanted to have life after his professional career, and now he will have abundant afterlife because he was a loving, caring, God-fearing family man. I miss him.

The McLendon family sends our sincerest heartfelt condolences to the Brooks family. I was blessed to work with Mrs. Brooks for 6 years and Dr. Brooks would come up to the school to assist us in anything we needed as we prepared for the school year or any musical performances. No job was too big or too small. for him He was such a nice man and a genuine joy to be around. A model husband (and person) and will be greatly missed. Heaven is even brighter now with his presence.

You have our sincerest condolences on the loss of your wonderful husband. He was a servant to others all his life and provided compassionate care to thousands of patients. He helped us personally with chiropractic and homeopathy care. Don had a wonderful sense of humor, a kind soul and gentle demeanor. May our Father God provide the family with peace and comfort. We love you and are here to help in any way we can.
