James Lewis McHenry, 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at home. A celebration of life service will take place at DFW National Cemetery on February 19, 2026, at 11:15am where friends and family are invited.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 19, 1951, James served 4 years in the Navy before going on to get his degree in Business Administration from University of Texas at Dallas. He spent his career in the information systems industry and truly enjoyed digging into programming languages and serving his clients, he was of the rare breed who could both program and talk to anyone. James loved cycling, volunteering with the Boy Scouts and spending time with his family.
James is survived by his wife Mary, his children Kyle McHenry and Heather Apolito (McHenry) and his four grandchildren: Delilah, Andrew, David and Lily.
James will be remembered for his love of life, ability to make anyone laugh and his love for his family. His laughter and compassion were anchors for his family and gifts for anyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Boy Scouts of America(Now Scouting America), where James volunteered for many years.
