Sidney Robert

Sidney Robert “Bob” King Jr. passed away on June 19, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born on December 20, 1949, to Sidney Robert King Sr. and Martha Ellen King, Bob spent his early years as an Army brat, moving frequently before his family settled in Justin, Texas. There, he grew up in a small farming community where he helped raise animals and learned a practical, independent way of life.

After earning his mechanic’s license, Bob began his career in the automotive industry at Big Billy Barrett before moving to Central Volkswagen, where he spent much of his professional life. As an Automotive Service Advisor, he built a loyal customer following, earning trust through his knowledge, problem-solving skills, and straightforward approach.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Laura Dodgen and her husband, Jack Dodgen; Cyndi Poole and her husband, Mark Poole; and Donna Combs; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Katherine, Cheyenne, Grant, Gannon, and Ryan; his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Aubrey, Jace, and Archie; and his sister, Bebe Byrd.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan King; his father, Sidney Robert King Sr.; and his mother, Martha Ellen King.

Bob enjoyed an adventurous life marked by curiosity and independence. He loved motocross racing, fishing tournaments, photography, birdwatching, and travel, especially Halloween trips to New Orleans, one of his favorite places. In later years, he enjoyed cooking, experimenting in the kitchen, and trying new recipes.

Bob's life was marked by adventure, curiosity, and a determination to experience as much of the world as he could. He will be remembered for his storytelling, his adventurous spirit, his willingness to try almost anything once, and the many memories he created with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
