Reyes R. Guzman

In Loving Memory of Reyes Guzman

With profound sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Reyes Guzman, who entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on March 8, 1942, in Brownsville, Texas, Reyes lived a life defined by faith, compassion, and unconditional love. She was the heart of her family, and her home was a place where everyone felt welcome. Whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger, she greeted you with open arms, a warm embrace, and the beautiful smile she never left home without.

For 65 wonderful years, Reyes shared a loving marriage with her devoted husband, Ismael Guzman Sr. Together they built a beautiful family that became the greatest joy and purpose of her life. She was a proud and loving mother to her eight children: Ismael and Julie Guzman, Joe Guzman, Matthew Guzman, Martin Guzman, Chris and Irma Guzman, Isreal Guzman, Mary and Andony Sosa, and Marie and Javier Gutierrez, and found her greatest happiness in watching her family grow through the generations.

Reyes was preceded in death by her beloved firstborn son, Ismael Guzman Jr., whose passing 12 years ago left a place in her heart that was never filled. She also carried the weight of not knowing the fate of her son, Matias Guzman, who has been missing for the past three years. She never stopped loving him, praying for him, or holding onto hope.

She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy through her family, including 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Every grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she had a remarkable way of making each one feel uniquely loved. She never wanted to miss a birthday, graduation, sporting event, recital, holiday, or family gathering. If her family was there, she wanted to be there too.

Family was everything to Reyes. She believed love was something to be shared freely, and she gave it without hesitation. Her kindness reached far beyond her relatives—anyone who crossed her path was treated like family. Her door was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her heart had space for everyone.

Her faith in God was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and found comfort in prayer. Before anyone left her presence, she would offer a heartfelt blessing and pray for their safety and well-being. Her faith was quiet but unwavering, and it touched everyone who knew her.

Reyes also embraced life’s simple joys. She loved to dance, cherished watching her favorite telenovelas, and had a smile that could brighten any room. Her laughter was contagious, her hugs were comforting, and her presence made people feel at home.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find peace in knowing she is now resting in the presence of the God she faithfully loved and served throughout her life. The lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the family she nurtured will continue to guide us for generations to come.

Reyes Guzman was more than a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was the heart of our family, our source of strength, our greatest prayer warrior, and the woman whose love knew no limits.

She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered until we meet again.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
