Pennamma Thomas

Pennamma Thomas, daughter of the late Chacko and Annamma of Puthuparmbil House, Thadyoor, was born on February 2, 1933. On August 16, 2026, at the age of 93, she peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Pennamma was the youngest of nine children, four brothers and four sisters. In 1950, at the age of 17, she married Mr. Abraham Thomas of the Aruthuckal Family, Vayalathala, Pathanamthitta. They shared 46 years of marriage until he went to be with the Lord in 1996.

Born into a Jacobite family and married into a Mar Thoma family, Pennamma migrated to the United States in 1984 and took water baptism in 1985. She was blessed to spend time with her children across the United States and India and played a cherished role in raising her grandchildren.

In 2003, Pennamma moved to Dallas, where she faithfully attended IPC Tabernacle Dallas for 23 years. Her faith sustained her through many health challenges and hardships, and her trust in God never wavered.

Pennamma was known for her cheerful nature, sense of humor, generous heart, and deep hospitality. She expressed her love through the way she cared for others and treasured her relationships with family, friends, and neighbors. She raised her children with discipline and a fear of the Lord, instilling in them a deep reverence for God and the importance of walking faithfully in His ways. Though she faced many hardships, she possessed great inner strength and never lost her joy. She was not a woman of many words, but her love, faith, and character were evident in her actions.

God blessed Pennamma and Abraham with nine children, two sons and seven daughters: Aleyamma Varghese (Leela) and her late husband Varghese Easow; Annamma Thomas (Ponnamma) and her husband Thomas Oomen; the late Abraham Thomas (Baby) and his wife Joyce Abraham; Mary Kurien (Marykutty) and her husband K.S. Kurien; Jacob Thomas (Solomon) and his wife Linu Jacob; Susamma John (Gracy) and her husband Pr. Sam John; Saramma Thomas (Mercy) and her late husband Pr. Benjamin Thomas; Rachel Samuel (Lizy) and her husband Abey Samuel; and Esther George (Mini) and her husband Koshy George.

She was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who were a treasured part of her life. One week before her passing, she had the joy of being surrounded by her children during the engagement celebration of one of her granddaughters.

Our dear Ammachii will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her faith, joy, generosity, and love will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. Though she has departed from this world, we find peace in knowing she is now in the presence of Jesus Christ.
