Beloved Wife · Mother · Grandmother · Great-Grandmother
Achamma was born at Kumpalamthanam, Kerala to Mr. Mathai Varghese and Mrs. Mariamma
Varghese of the Palackamannil House. She grew up with six brothers and one sister. On
February 9, 1950, she married Mr. P.J. Thomas of the Puthenparampil House in Vadasserikkara.
Together they built a Christ-centered home and raised four sons to know and love the Lord.
Achamma was a woman of few words, but her life spoke clearly. Her gentle spirit, humble ways,
and innocent smile reflected a heart at peace with God. She prayed faithfully, waited patiently,
and cared for others tenderly. Her faith was never loud, but it was deep and real. It lives on in the
generations she loved and prayed for.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. P.J. Thomas.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Thomas Joseph & Saramma Joseph; Mathew Thomas
& Suja Mathew; Philip Thomas & Annie Philip; and James Thomas & Shirley Abraham.
She is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Joyce and Sam Buchanan, Thompson Joseph,
Joslyn Joseph, Manju and Adolfo Lozano, Melvin Mathew, Finny and Jessica Philip, Pheba
Philip, Joson Abraham, and Jewel Abraham.
She will be fondly remembered by her cherished great-grandchildren, Bethany Buchanan,
Charles Buchanan, Sydney Joseph, Lilianna Philip, Sophia Lozano, and Michael Lozano.
She also leaves behind her siblings, Mariamma Joseph and P.M. Samuel, and is lovingly
remembered alongside her late siblings, P.M. George, P.M. Joseph, P.M. Philip, P.M. John, and
P.M. Mathai.
We say goodbye with sorrow, but not as those who have no hope. Through the grace of God and
the saving work of Jesus Christ, we look forward to the day when we will see her again. On that
heavenly shore, there will be no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more death.
